SIBAYAK MOUNTAIN

Sibayak mountain located in the Karo highlands (read: Overview of Tanah Karo) with an altitude of 2094 m above sea level. Note:
To make a climb to the mountain Sibayak can be through:
1.Jalur 54 with a starting point of the company's factory pendakain penatapan Aqua or corn on the cob.
2. Sibayak Line I, with a starting point located at the foot of the climb in the village of King gng Sibayak Berneh 15 km from Berastagi town.
3. Sibayak Line II, with a starting point located at the foot of the climb gng Jaranguda 1.5 km Sibayak village.

For transportation from the city field, we can use public bus fare Sinabung Jaya with 5000 per person. Viewed from the Geography of Karo Regency is located in the highlands of the Bukit Barisan Mountains and the Upper River area. Karo Regency area is 2127.25 square kilometers or 212,725 hectares, or 2.97 percent of the province of North Sumatra, and geographically located between latitude 2 degrees 50 minutes north to 3 degrees 19 minutes North Latitude and 97 Longitude derakat 55 minutes
East to 98 degrees 38 minutes east longitude.

Territorial boundaries of Karo Regency is:
-North and is bordered by Deli Serdang Langkat
- Southern Dairi district and is bordered by North Tapanuli
- East side is bordered by Deli Serdang Regency and

Simalungun District
-West of the Southeast Aceh district borders (Province
Special Region of Aceh)

Karo Regency is situated at an altitude of 140 to 1400 meters above sea level with the area ratio as follows:
- Areas up to 200 elevation 140 meters above the sea area of 9550 Ha (4:49%)
- Areas up to 500 elevation 200 meters above the sea area of 11,373 ha (5.35%)
- Areas with an altitude of 500 to 1000 meters above sea pemukaan area of 79,215 ha (37.24%)

CILIWUNG..airmu bak susu coklat

Meskipun orang bilang air sungai Ciliwung itu kotor, tapi banyak juga orang yang senang tinggal di sepanjang tepinya. Di sana bahkan anak-anak bisa berenang sesukannya tanpa harus keluar uang satu sen pun. Berenang dan bersenang-senang di kali Ciliwung, itulah hobi yang dimiliki oleh anak-anak yang tinggal di sepanjang tepi sungai yang membelah ibukota Jakarta. Setiap pagi dan sore anak-anak selalu berkumpul di tepi kali, lalu bersama-sama melompat dan….byuur. Yang mereka rasakan hanyalah kegembiraan, mereka tidak pernah memikirkan bahaya apa yang akan mereka derita kelak.

Bagi orang yang tak biasa, mungkin air sungai Ciliwung itu kotor dan menjijikan. Tapi tidak bagi orang-orang yang tinggal di tepinya. Mungkin karena sudah biasa kali ya ?? Setiap hari dari pagi hingga petang, dari anak-anak sampai orang tua memanfaatkan air sungai Ciliwung. Ibu-ibu biasa mencuci baju di atas getek dari bambu. Tak hanya mencuci baju saja, bahkan untuk keperluan memasak, mereka juga memakai air sungai untuk mencuci beras yang akan dimasak. Padahal selain airnya berwarna coklat dan tentu saja kotor, sungai Ciliwung juga dimanfaatkan sebagai MCK ( mandi, cuci, kakus ) bersama.

Bahkan bila pagi hari orang yang buang hajat besar seperti berlomba, mereka tinggal jongkok berlama-lama di toilet seadanya yang mereka buat sendiri. Jangan pikir toilet itu seperti toilet yang ada di rumah, mereka cukup membuatnya dari beberapa lembar papan kayu dan membentuknya menjadi kotak yang ketinggiaannya cukup sebatas dada bila untuk jongkok. Tanpa perlu membuat lubang angsa dan septiteng, jadi kotoran langsung “pluung”…dan tinggal kita ucapkan “dadaa…” maka kotoran langsung hilang dibawa pergi air sungai Ciliwung. Tak cuma itu, sungai Ciliwung juga kotor oleh berbagai jenis sampah. Dari mulai sampah rumah tangga, batang-batang kayu dan bambu, kantong dan botol plastic, bangkai binatang, bahkan sampai kursi dan kasur bekas yang tentu saja sudah rusak. Semua sampah itu tidak lain berasal dari masayarakat di sekitar sungai Ciliwung yang selalu membuang sampah sembarangan ke sungai Ciliwung.
Menurut orang-orang tua, waktu mereka masih muda dulu, air sungai Ciliwung bersih. Sayang, sekarang jadi seperti ini. Oleh karena itu, sebagian masyarakat sudah membuat sumur sendiri. Namun masih banyak juga yang tetap menggunakan air sungai Ciliwung untuk mandi dan mencuci.
Setiap musim hujan tiba, penduduk di tepi sungai Ciliwung juga harus waspada terhadap banjir. Setiap kali di daerah hulu hujan deras, maka sudah dapat dipastikan akan terjadi banjir. Hal ini disebabkan karena daerah hulu yaitu kawasan Puncak Bogor sudah kehilangan banyak fungsi sebagi penampung air hujan. Hutan yang dulunya hijau telah berganti menjadi ratusan villa mewah.

Di luar masalah yang dihadapi sungai Ciliwung dan orang-orang yang tinggal di tepiannya, ternyata sungai ini juga merupakan sumber rejeki bagi beberapa orang. Misalnya bekerja sebagai pengemudi getek yang menyebrangkan orang dari satu tepi ke tepi seberangnya. Ada juga yang suka mengumpulkan botol-botol plastik yang hanyut terbawa air sungai. Botol itu bisa dijual kembali dan menjadi uang.
Itulah berbagai permasalahan dan keuntungan yang diberikan oleh sungai Ciliwung bagi masyarakat Jakarta, khususnya bagi mereka yang tinggal di sepanjang tepinya.
